Technology & Education

Technology has evolved and showed rapid growth in recent years, which has a majority of parents feeling left behind. While parents struggle to stay up to date, their children are absorbing and learning about these new innovations with great ease. Children now have a variety of choices including cell phones, advanced video games, and a variety of activities on the internet to occupy their time. Technological advances have created many benefits and negative consequences for society that has resulted with an increased dialogue about their effects on children. Some negative aspects affecting children is their increased exposure and desensitized reaction to violence and sex from these new mediums. Children who are exposed at a young age may severely hinder their mental development because their minds are not capable of processing this information properly. We need to do our best to protect children from these negative aspects of technology so that they may change the world with its benefits.

Technology & Environment

As fuel prices rise and our dependence on diminishing fossil fuels increases, we are searching for alternatives to address our increasing energy needs. The industrialized nations of Western Europe and North America, China and India depend almost entirely on these fuels and other developing nations are also increasing their use. To avoid the national security issues and environmental costs of continuing this trend, new technological advances in alternative energy are currently being pursued. The future of the Earth relies on clean and renewable energy sources like; solar power, wind power, tidal power, geothermal energy and hydro electric power to bring a cleaner and safer world for the next generation.

Technology Transcends Borders

Advances in technology have recreated the world as a global village in which we can connect to anyone around the world instantly through e-mail, various online social networks, video chat and instant messaging for little or no cost. As our world gets smaller we need to respect and be more progressive with our views towards different races and religions around the world. The barriers of communication and information are eroding between us so we need to rethink our conception of religion and race as borderless communities. Without this borderless thinking, clashes between neighboring races and religions will continue to taint history with violence and bloodshed. Technology has facilitated an ease of communication between us like never before and it is our responsibility to take advantage of this opportunity to learn and understand as much as we can about each other.
