A WORLD PEACE SOLUTION
As adults, we are all the product of the environment and upbringing we were raised with as children. The positive and negative influences that shaped and changed us as children contribute to the people we are today. Sometimes we may look back at a particularly trying time in our childhood and regret instances of poor judgement or receiving ineffective guidance. We may believe that if we just received the proper support and learned proper and positive values as a child, we would have a better life today. This view applies to all of us as we search for an answer to the environmental catastrophes, human atrocities, war, terrorism, disease and suffering that citizens of the world are living with every day. The underlying solution: we must make a fundamental change in the type of education that children receive to counter balance the negative influences in their lives and ensure that all children no matter what faith, race, culture, or socio- economic position, receives a useful and worthwhile education.
The foundation for a peaceful and prosperous world will be built by educating children in revolutionary and innovative ways. We are developing a long-term strategy to create a lasting solution to the countless amounts of violence and suffering that is in the world today. Together we can ensure that the next generation is equipped to solve their problems through non-violent means and endeavour for greater achievements in life. The strategy for finding a peaceful solution to world conflicts will be achieved by addressing crucial and universal issues that are vital for developing a child’s mind.
Health & Wellbeing
Teaching children the proper health and hygiene practices will produce positive results for the world as well as for their own wellbeing. The spread of infectious diseases like HIV/AIDS, SARS, and the Avian Influenza(bird flu) are increasing in greater numbers every year and we must be diligent in the prevention of these and future diseases. By teaching children the importance of taking care of themselves and their health at an early age we can ensure that as adults they will be less likely to suffer from afflictions like heart, lung, and liver disease. Many families have prematurely suffered the loss of loved ones due to poor health and hygiene practises, and we must do our best to prevent trends like these from continuing. Our pursuit of a long-term peace resolution will only be possible if children realize that in order to bring peace to the world, they must start by taking care and valuing their own lives.
Environmental Changes
Educating children about protecting the world’s natural resources and ecosystems is important if they are to learn the importance of humanity towards all of mankind. If children are taught at an early age that the consequences of doing things like littering or wasting electricity are connected to world issues like global warming, they are more likely to become environmentally responsible adults. This is important because if we continue to waste our natural resources and pollute without observing their consequences, all of mankind will suffer. In some parts of the world global warming has created environmental conditions that are uninhabitable and has forced many people to live in poverty. Unfortunately in some cases, people who are forced to live in these conditions often feel indecent, desperate and hopeless and resort to committing violent or terrorist acts out of misguided anger, frustration, or a need to provide for their family. The path towards a more peaceful world understands that the results of environmental abuse not only hurts our planet but affects all of us in many different ways.
Universal Values
The most important component of our educational program and the crux of our world peace solution concerns teaching and instilling children with strong morals and values. The impact of this will provide children with a foundation that will guide them to make better choices in life and resist the influence of the criminal world, religious extremists or terrorists. Children are easily influenced and persuaded every day by various forms of media (TV, movies, video games, and advertising) but we must be careful to ensure that they are not taken advantage of or manipulated negatively. The most meaningful way for children to possess the good judgment, common sense and logic when confronted with these different influences in their lives is with a strong foundation of morals and values.
In today’s society we can be overly concerned with political correctness resulting in religious references in public schools, for example, being considered politically incorrect. As a result, schools shy away from references to any one religion, consequently leaving a vacuum in the education of virtues, morals and values. By reintroducing children to this vital missing component in their education they will possess the tools that encourage peaceful non-violent conflict resolution. With our help we can further the peace process by nurturing the leaders of tomorrow to possess the strong morals and values that are necessary when making world changing decisions. To reverse the damages of the past we must make significant changes for the future that include ensuring that our future generations possess strong leadership qualities combined with the humility to make compromises when necessary. The solution to the problems of our world will only be achieved if our children possess the integrity, tolerance, compassion and knowledge it takes to solve their conflicts in a non-violent and peaceful way.
